EEL(peacock eel)

 

Aquarium Eels are a group of Eels and Eel-like fishes that all have long snake-like bodies and similar diets. They are also very clever fish. They have a most singular habit of being escape artists, wiggling through even the smallest hole in an aquarium cover. Most EELS are bottom feeders they eat anything that drops on the bottom of the tank...some eat fish food like flakes.

first off you can keep so called freshwater eels in freshwater for a while but they are really brackish fish and they wont live as long in total freshwater. it would be healthier and live longer in brackish water.  
 It is probably still a little stressed so it might take a couple of days for it to start eating. leave the goldfish in there because eels eat mostly at night. when it does start eating try to get it off of live foods because feeder fish can carry diseases. 
They also require a soft, sandy substrate to move around on and possibly burrow in. Their skin is sensitive and overly coarse substrate can damage them. Any sharp objects or protruding edges should also be removed from the aquarium. 

 They can be easily spooked by loud noises and may become startled and jump. They will also naturally test the aquariums for places to slip out. For these reasons it is important that the aquarist provide a secure, sturdy lid to prevent any escape attempts. Any holes or gaps that the lid does not cover should be sealed. 

WHEN THE EEL IS NEWLY BOUGHT IN THE TANK it will refuse to eat. However, they can survive long periods without food. If they do not eat right away, do not be alarmed. Simply try and improve their living conditions and provide the proper foods to initiate their appetite. 

It is a bottom living creature that likes to bury itself in silt, sand or fine gravel, and only display a small part of its head. It prefers to forage for food at dusk. Wild Peacock eel will eat worms, crustaceans and larvae and keeping them on a similar diet of live food in the aquarium is recommended. Live brine shrimp, blood worms,fish flakes,etc... 

 

When the Peacock eel has been introduced to a new home, it is usually very shy and prefers to stay hidden most of the time. If you provide it with an aquarium environment that makes it feel safe, it can become very friendly over time. As mentioned above, the Peacock eel inhabits densely grown waters, and keeping this fish in an aquarium with plenty of plants is therefore recommended. Your Peacock eel will also appreciate PVC pipes that it can hide inside, and sheltered spots created by rocks, roots and wood. mosquito larvae and cyclops are all good suggestion.The Peacock Eels are carnivores. Like all spiny eels they prefer a diet of live and fresh frozen foods such as brine shrimp, black worms, earthworms or bloodworms. Some can be trained to eat freeze dried brine shrimp or bloodworms but this is not something that can be counted on. ons.

Make sure they have plenty of hiding places among roots, rocks, or other decor so they will feel secure in their new home. Floating plant cover is great but plants buried in the substrate may get uprooted. Just to be sure you must Check the water temp and water quality.
